City tackles animal issues, hears plea for FD help

The Underwood City commission tackled separate issues regarding animals at Wednesday’s regular April meeting.
Commissioner Paul Cabrera reported that the McLean County Sheriff’s Department has been informed that residents have been shooting gophers within city limits.
After some discussion among the commissioners regarding what types of guns might be allowed to shootmunwanted vermin (particularly gophers) in town, outgoing city auditor Diane Schell told commissioners that the state prohibits the shooting of firearms within city limits at all.
