The Underwood City Commissioners gave Toman Engineering the go-ahead to move forward with a street repair project this summer after about two hours of discussion Monday night.

It is estimated that the project will cost the city’s residents about $2.9 million in specials, or about $320 in specials per year for a typical 10,000 sq. ft. lot, or about $26 added to a monthly mortgage for 12 years.

Representatives of Toman Engineering were present to go through their recommendations on the proposed street improvement project, going through the recommendations street-by-street, including several alternate add-on options..

Alternate options include improvements to the city hall and pool parking lots, the bike path north of the pool parking lot, the St. Bonaventure Church drainage area, as well as several areas of water main replacement, and improvement of Frontage Road and Carter St.
