When talking about people breaking records, it’s most often thought of as being an athletic feat.
At the Turtle Lake-Mercer School, a school record is on the brink of being broken this year that is a feat of not the body, but the mind, as fifthgrader Case Christensen is creeping up on the reading record set by now-senior Ashlee Ketterling.
Ketterling set the record in 2014, reading 7,899,571 words in one year. Christensen, as of his most recent count, is at 6.2 million words read this year, with nearly four months of reading left to go.
