Christensen breaks record

When someone breaks a long-standing record, it’s not uncommon for the new record holder to get a little full of him or herself.
That’s not the case with Turtle Lake-Mercer’s Case Christensen. The unassuming fifth-grader recently broke the reading record set by now-senior Ashlee Ketterling, and he really didn’t want to take about it much, or have his picture taken. This year alone, Case has read 7.9 million words, breaking the record Ashlee set in fifth grade of 7.89 million.
Hitting 8,000,000 words is just right around the corner for Case, who likes to read a variety of genres of books. Right now he’s reading Ground Zero, a book about the 9-11 attacks. At 336 pages, it’s not exactly light reading.
