Cheer Baskets next Chamber project

With Turtle Lake’s Chamber of Progress Christmas activities punctuated by a raucous, festive Santa Store opening last Monday, members of the chamber were already thinking about next year’s festivities and how to improve things. That is – if they need improving.
The chamber already made a major change this year, giving Santa and the Santa Store their own separate days.
Moving the Santa Store day to the first Monday in December worked very well, noted chamber member Audrey Boe Olsen. Moving the store to the legion hall was also a smart move, she added. It was a fun, festive atmosphere, and not as chaotic as it had been at the community center.
“We’ve got a pretty good system,” she said. “We had 14 wrapping stations, and I think we could have used 18.”
One tweak they would like to make for next year’s Santa Store is to request that only new items be donated. The sorting of used items added a lot of time to the set-up, the chamber members noted, and some of the items were not quite in perfect enough shape to be included in the store.
“If we limit to only new items, that will solve that problem,” said Bev Neumiller.
