Chamber set for ‘19

A new year – a new schedule of events, but not before going over the last several activities that the Turtle Lake Chamber of Progress headed up in December.
The Chamber put on several events to celebrate the holidays, switching up the dates of a couple of them this year in the hopes of making more events accessible to more people. The new schedule didn’t quite work out as well as was hoped, as the organizers of the Cookie Walk and vendor fair felt having those events at the same time wasn’t ideal, as some people chose to go to one and not the other.
A conflict with being able to use the legion hall resulted in the two events being held the same night, noted Chamber member Linda Huelsman. Next year, they’ll be held on different days, she noted. The dates for the Chamber’s events were set at Tuesday’s first meeting of 2019, with Santa Store to be held Dec. 2 and Santa Day on Dec. 4.
Other discussion regarding Santa Day, the treasurer’s report noted that a donation of $1200 was made to the Santa Day events, while, the Santa Store made $2870. The cheer baskets, which included 20 meat and cheese baskets, eight turkey baskets, and eight plants and cookie baskets, cost about $800.
“We are self-sustaining,” noted Huelsman following the meeting.
It was noted the Angel Tree was also a success this year, with folks donating gifts to families in need this Christmas.
