The proposed air conditioning and heating system revamp was thoroughly discussed at the September 17 monthly meeting of the Turtle Lake-Mercer School Board, with Josh Ruffo, Joi Anderson and Brent Christensen bringing pertinent issues to the front.
The most work done would be in the boiler room, out of classroom interference. Each room will cool and heat individually with a fresh air exchange. The gymnasium is not included, but the unit in the gym could be modified and run as a separate system at any time.
The project is estimated to take three months to complete. There would be no more window air conditioning units and small lines that are very efficient. This would improve the look of the rooms.
Each end of the building would be capped off on the old system. The old pipes will remain where they are. This makes the project much easier and cheaper. The cost of the project is roughly estimated at $467,000. The bid should be let at March at the latest.
Business Manager Susan Davis stated they had adequate funds on hand for the project.
Anderson also reported that the roof has some small cracks, normal for a flat roof and in two years a closer look and more work is likely needed.
