Breakfast Club, BIG SUCKIES ‘opening’ for business

There wasn’t even an entrepreneur class at the Underwood School this year, but that didn’t stop several students from Underwood and surrounding schools from signing up for another year of entering the Entrepreneur Expo.
The annual fair and business showcase is set for Wednesday, March 2, at the Vonderheide Gymnasium at Underwood, and the exhibits are open to the public starting at 9 a.m., throughout the day until 2 p.m. when awards will be presented.
With no class on how to become an entrepreneur, the whole idea of having a fair showcasing young students’ business goals and dreams could easily have been eliminated without a second thought.
But after 20-some years of putting on the fair, coordinator and semi-retired business teacher Julie Driessen decided the fair could still go on.
"I do it for the kids," said Driessen. "I love working with these kids. I love seeing what they come up with."
