Board waiting for numbers before mulling new addition

The Underwood School Board members got to see some preliminary 3-D drawings of a potential addition to the school, but didn’t get to see any numbers to go along with it, discussing the possible building project at this past Wednesday’s regular meeting.
The current drawing that was given to the board members by James Devine of J2 studio of Bismarck includes a new main entrance that would be in the center of the school property on the east side of the school, adding on a large area east of the current multipurpose room which would house the administrative offices, have better handicap accessibility, a nurse’s room, some new classrooms, a commons area, and new restrooms.
"That takes care of all of that," said Principal Lee Weisgarber.
The plan also includes a remodeling to the current elementary entrance.
One of the main reasons the board is looking at an addition is to clearly identify where the main entrance to the school is, and when visitors come through that main entrance, they can easily find the administration offices.
It will also increase security at the school, which is another priority for the board members.
