The Underwood School Board did not make a decision regarding the proposed $2 million expansion project it is mulling over, opting to wait a little longer to decide, to ensure the dollar amount that is being proposed to them is going to be accurate.
Although the buildings and grounds committee did recommend going ahead with the construction project at last Wednesday’s regular meeting, the board members opted to wait a little longer before deciding.
"They just wanted to make sure that we know exactly where those dollar amounts are coming from and what the dollar amount will be before we make a commitment," said Supt. Brandt Dick.
However, he noted, the board voted to approve moving on with doing more work to determine what can be done to alleviate the water issues the school has had to deal with in the past which caused damage to the gym floor last summer.
A final decision on whether or not to add on a new front to the school, which would include a central entrance to the school, a common administrative area, improved handicap accessibility, a commons area for students, as well as other improvements.
