The topic of furthering the Central McLean co-op to include volleyball and basketball brought enough people out to Wednesday’s meeting to force the meeting to be held in the school’s lunch room.
After updating each other and those attending the meeting on the recent co-op committee meeting held with Underwood and McClusky, and after hearing questions and comments from several of the people in attendance, the Turtle Lake-Mercer School Board approved putting out not just one survey, but two, in an effort to gauge Turtle Lake-Mercer residents’ interest in adding the two sports to the current co-op.
In addition, the board is hoping the Underwood and McClusky school boards, which have already conducted their own independent surveys, will consider conducting another survey to the schools’ parents and students – one that all three school boards would create together, so the data that is collected will be consistent among all three schools.
The TL-M board also approved sending out a separate survey to the community, asking for its input as well.
“I appreciate the people of the community, but that being said, the people that this is going to affect the most are the parents and the kids,” said School Board Member Rick Britton.
Which one is going to outweigh the other, he asked.
