The Underwood School Board members made quick work of a short agenda Monday night, approving a speech and drama co-op with Washburn and setting the date for a meeting with the Underwood Area Economic Development Corporation and the city commission regarding the school and a building study that is currently being done by Consolidated Construction.
Despite just one student showing interest thus far in participating in speech, the board members unanimously voted to enter into a co-op agreement for speech and drama with Washburn, which has an already successful speech and drama program.
"That coach has high expectations," commented Underwood Supt. Brandt Dick, regarding Washburn speech teacher/coach, Vickie Mayer.
Participating in the one-act play would not be an option this year, he added, since the competition is set for early November.
