Bittersweet cheers to the end of an era

The consensus was pretty much the same at both gymnasiums this past week in Turtle Lake and Underwood – those last games as Comets and Trojans were the end of an era. The term “bittersweet” was mentioned multiple times as alumni and fans looked toward next season’s co-op of the two teams, melding them into the Central McLean Cougars.
“I’m very proud of the pride that we’ve always had for our teams and our students, and I hope that we take that same pride and support our next generation as the Cougars,
and give our kids the support they deserve,” said Turtle Lake-Mercer Supt. Sheila Schlafmann as she watched the Trojans warm up for their last varsity basketball game as Trojans Friday night.
