Becky Bowen recognized by USDA

Becky Bowen is used to saying great things about Underwood. She does it all the time. Now, Underwood can boast about Becky. Bowen recently received a certificate of appreciation for her work in promoting the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s Single Family Housing programs. Bowen is well-known in Underwood for her work with the Underwood Area Economic Development Corporation, which has been instrumental in accomplishing a number of projects to benefit the community. Presented by USDA Rural Development State Director Jasper Schneider, the award came as a bit of a surprise to Bowen, who learned about the recognition just a few days before the Nov. 18 award ceremony. "I was very flattered," Bowen said. "I didn’t think I’d done that much more than anyone else." In September of 2008, Bowen requested information about Rural Development’s Single Family Housing programs. While working with Underwood applicants, Bowen realized that many applicants could use some help completing the process.
