Balyeat brings Hidden Verse art to Underwood mural

She adds some strokes of paint, covering each color in between uses to keep the sun from drying out the acrylic. Then she stands back.
“It’s like life. You can’t tell what you’re doing from up close, so you need to take a step back,” Nancy Balyeat says as she takes a seat to eye the mural she is painting outside of the Community Cupboard in Underwood.
Nancy, a lifelong artist and Underwood resident, was commissioned to paint the wall on the east side of the Cupboard on Lincoln Avenue. While Nancy was once a routine mural artist, she said this is the first she’s done in close to 10 years.
