Arts council hoping for live Nativity
The members of the Northern Expressions Arts Council are hoping that the weather will be delightful the day of this year’s Hometown Holiday Extravaganza, set for Sunday, Dec. 11, as they are hoping to be able to hold a live nativity as part of the city’s holiday celebration.
How cold it is that day will definitely dictate whether they will be able to pull off their newest artistic endeavor, but that is just one hurdle.
The group is looking for someone to bring in several large bales to use for the stable, and they also are in need of small animals (goats, sheep, a cow, etc.) to be in the stable.
The greatest key, though, is to find volunteers to portray the characters of Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and the kings.
“This is a great way for a lot of the high school kids to get quite a few volunteer hours,” noted Werre, as they could help with the preparation and participate in the performance.
“There are no lines – it is very simple – there will be music in the background, and it will just be a simple, display that reminds us what Christmas is about,” she added.
