Another fair in the books

A little bit of rain here or there didn’t dampen the spirits of those attending the McLean County Fair last weekend, particularly the racing fans, as the gate at both the stock car and enduro races indicated a pretty good showing.
"We had a good weekend," said race fan Oliver Repnow.
There were 38 cars in Sunday’s enduro, 21 Legends and about 16 cars competing in the stock car races Saturday, according to Repnow, who was also on hand as part of the crew that made sure the track stayed race ready.
Fair Board President Diane Schell concurred – it was a really good fair. The attendance was the best it has been since she’s taken over the president position about seven years ago. She estimates over 3,500 people attended the fair this year, despite some rain.
"The rain Friday morning made things pretty muddy out there for the 4-H kids, but it dried up pretty fast," said Schell. "By the afternoon everything was dry."
Just in time for one of the fair’s most popular events, the ranch rodeo. Once again, it didn’t disappoint, according to Schell.
