Ambulance call under scrutiny

The Underwood Ambulance Department is under investigation by the North Dakota Department of Health following the EMS’ response to a residence in Underwood in which a patient eventually died.
According to McLean County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Richard Johnson, the McLean County Dispatch received a 911 call at 2:34 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, to come to a residence in Underwood where an unresponsive body had been discovered.
The sheriff’s department arrived at 2:37 p.m.
The first deputy on the scene asked to have the Underwood Ambulance paged because the deputy thought he saw the patient twitching.
According to Johnson, the Underwood Ambulance was paged at 2:42 p.m. and was en route at 2:46 p.m.
According to Johnson, a veteran of the ambulance squad who had arrived in his own vehicle, examined the patient and could not find a pulse.
