A community of support reaches outward
While it might not seem like there are a lot of things that connect Mercer County with Hawaii ordinarily, one family’s story is bridging the large geographical space between the two, and giving area residents the chance to make a difference in a big way.
On May 14, Josh Liu, age 37, experienced a sudden and devastating stroke while at a movie theater, which led him to go first into an induced coma for a month and then through a series of treatments and therapies after the stroke left him with devastating brain injuries.
Josh lives in the town of Kapolei in Oahu, Hawaii, with his wife Megan. Megan is the daughter of Kerry and Nancy Miller, of Stanton, N.D.
“We met on Tinder, we were each other’s dates on Tinder,” Megan said. “We’ve been together for seven years and married for three years now.”
